About this book

The main muscle groups of the upper body and the exercises that develop them, but with a specific target. Frank is explicit that he is not satisfied with just any type of development. He is after classical, symmetrical, shapely muscle, and he describes his own favourite shape producing exercises and how to perform them.

Three rules run through the whole course. Get a maximum pump from each set by doing as many reps as possible with a weight that does not permit more than twelve. Rest only long enough for breathing to return to normal, never over two minutes. Increase the weight on every set. Follow those and you never need more than three or four sets per exercise, with reps averaging six to twelve.

He gives three split routine variations he has had success with, and a plain statement of the philosophy behind the whole catalogue: shape means everything to a bodybuilder, because anyone can get size and cuts on a special program but muscle shape is much harder to come by, and it is shape that gives a physique its personal identity. His motto, in his own words: train for shape and size and cuts will follow.
