About this book
By Christine Zane. Bodybuilding for the woman, and the first of her series of courses. Frank wrote the foreword himself and recommended it to any woman wanting to improve herself physically.
Christine wrote it during what she calls a revolution in bodybuilding, as women began training seriously, most of them wanting to become firm, streamlined and shapely with good muscle tone rather than to compete. Her position is that exercise is the only way to improve your body's shape, because a diet alone will make you a smaller version of the heavier you, and women dieting without training tend to lose from the areas they did not want to lose from.
She is direct about not simply borrowing a man's programme. A woman following a man's routine and schedule may overdevelop areas she would rather not, so while some exercises look similar, the manner of performing them and the repetitions differ. Some areas need building up, others slimming and shaping.
The course covers a balanced complete routine using weights, how to expand the programme when ready, and how to gain control of your eating habits. There is also a section on training your movements, on the grounds that you are training carriage and poise at the same time as muscle.
