About this book

Frank retired from competition at 41 and this book starts with the question that left him: "So what now?" For 23 years, ever since his first contest at 18, his motivation had been winning. With that gone, he had to find a reason to keep training, and this is what he worked out.

He writes about training with clients rather than for a stage, getting into defined condition at 50 for the photos in Fabulously Fit Forever, and dropping to 170 pounds, fifteen down from contest days, smaller but muscular and feeling good on it.

Then the part that makes this book useful past midlife: being cautious to avoid injury, making lighter weights feel heavier with slower stricter movements, stretching between sets, getting enough rest and sleep to grow, and taking aerobics from long walks and a stationary bike. He is direct about what he now avoids, and why many of the injuries he did incur were the result of foolishness.

Underneath it is his working definition of the whole thing: bodybuilding means training for growth your entire life.
