JUNE / JULY 2005
Except for a minor leg injury, everything has been going very well recently. Fortunately, my legs have always been in good shape, so the time I've had to take off to heal has allowed me to concentrate on upper body training and has afforded an opportunity for me to shoot my new tournament bow (which is a lot of shoulder work!). So I've been training torso then resting two days (shooting archery one of the two rest days), then training arms and resting two days (more archery) before I go back to torso training again. The lesson I've learned (and continue to learn) is that when you are injured the foremost thing you need is rest. You must rest long enough for healing to completely occur before you start back training. Training mishaps allow you the chance to specialize on your weak points. I still plan to get into great shape by Thanksgiving this year, but for now leg training has to wait a while. Other news is that my book Fabulously Fit Forever Expanded has completely sold out, there are no more copies left. Mind Body Spirit Personal Training Diaries is still available along with a special offer when you purchase my Train with Zane DVD. I'm in the process of writing a new book, The Zane Body: training and nutrition, which I hope will be available by the end of 2005. Summer 2005 issue of Building the Body Quarterly Magazine will be mailed to subscribers by early August with articles on: Nanotechnology Patches and Training Progress, Unique Exercises add variety and motivation to training, My musical performance at Sri Chinmoy's Harmony Concert at Cox Arena in San Diego, The 2005 Muscle Beach Hall of Fame Award at Venice Beach on Memorial Day, The importance of nutrient timing for an anabolic muscle response, supplementation with glucosamine, MSM and chondritin, Complete instructions on how to meditate effectively, The difference between daydreaming and the power of creative imagination, and much more. Consider subscribing if you don't already, only $20 a year. Mention you saw it on my website and I'll include a free back issue. Until next month, FZ
