JANUARY 2007
TIP FOR THE MONTH

Hello!

It's been a busy few months, training to reach peak condition at age 64, taking photos, and completing the Winter edition of Building the Body Quarterly Magazine.  I was able to get in my best shape in over a decade and this Winter issue describes all the details of my workouts, diet, and motivation along with photos of the condition I achieved by the middle of December 2006.  You may want to subscribe if you don't already.

Most of all I proved to myself that age is no barrier to physical improvement and I intend to be in even better shape in 2007.  One thing I did learn is that as you get older you have to allow more time to get in shape.  I did everything possible to reach peak condition, dieting, training two even three times a day, 1000 reps of abdominal work daily, and eventually 1 and a half hours of aerobics a day.  I trained using a three way split:  Day 1 - torso, Day 2 - legs, Day 3 - arms and did these workouts in a 5 day cycle: train torso first day, rest second day (not really a rest because I did 1000 ab reps and up to 1.5 hours aerobics), train legs third day, train arms fourth day, rest 5th day.  My diet was very strict: 180 grams of protein, under 60 grams of carbs and fat a day.  I took lots of supplements, especially free form amino acids, extra tryptophan, arginine, and glutamine.  My Cutting Edgetm Egg White Protein became my lunch.  I gradually lost fat and even built lean muscle mass.

In addition to all the details of my peaking preparation, this issue has articles about 1. The Best Abdominal Exercises - What I did for abs this time around; 2. A Jason Hay cartoon depicting my reasons for peaking; 3. The 4 Levels of the Aging Process by Ed Kellogg, PhD; 4. Reflections on the Current Crop of Bodybuilders - as seen through the eyes of Arnold's ex girlfriend; 5. The all new Leg Blaster Elite - this new model Leg Blaster now available is my all time favorite; 6. Whole Body Vibration - you can get it with the new Soloflex WVB; 7. Building Winter Immunity - ways to prevent winter colds and flu; 8. Changing from Antagonistic Muscle Training - my new training routine and why I'm doing it;  9. Understanding Thyroid Measurements by David Leonardi, M.D. - "If your thyroid is slow on your body fat will grow"; 10. Frankly Speaking about the aftermath of peak condition training - I'm still in great shape and plan to stay that way.

Good Luck in your training,

FZ
